This is Marg, the inspiration and creator of Headride! Marg is a keen cyclist who has engaged in both track and road cycling over the years. In 2009, Marg was involved in a life-threatening cycling accident. She sustained severe orthopedic injuries and required an emergency craniotomy. The Alfred hospital saved her life. While Marg feels she will never fully repay her debt of gratitude to The Alfred, she has set up Headride to give others a 'second chance' just as she had.
Marg and 16 cyclists are riding from Adelaide to Melbourne from October 22-29. They are raising money through sponsors and donations. They hope to raise $50,000, which will go directly to neurosurgical department at The Alfred.

Such a great initiative! Good luck to all the riders :)
ReplyDeleteIt was good to read about why these riders were motivated to do something like this - I hope that it all goes really well.

I am a ripe 22 years old and can barely run 5km! I went to a spin class last month and lasted 10 minutes before discreetly exiting with an "important phone call" :)
Well done for all that you've achieved so far in training and BEST OF LUCK for the ride next week, I'm sure you'll all be fantastic.
And Noonans, excellent work in organising something so great.
Cheers, Steph Merm.
